Stop press, stop press! The West Yorkshire Regional English Database (WYRED) project website is now live at http://wyredproject.co.uk/.
Led by Dr Erica Gold, the website notes that “the purpose of the WYRED project is to build a database of British English speech which will be made publically available for wider use by researchers and any other interested parties.”
The team (which also includes RAs Kate Earnshaw, Sula Ross and Elliott Land) are recruiting 18-30 males from Bradford, Wakefield and Kirklees to contribute to the database. Participation will earn you £25 in gift vouchers, so please sign yourself (and all your willing friends) up on this page.
