Hansard at Huddersfield: interdisciplinary enjoyment and inspiration
This week we welcomed John Vice, Editor of Debates at the House of Lords, to Huddersfield. John told us all about the purpose of Hansard, the record of parliamentary proceedings, and how its contributors deal with tricky-to-record situations, including swearing, the use of props by members and interruptions of many and varied kinds!
It was a fascinating talk attended by scholars from Linguistics, Journalism, Politics, History and more. Thanks John, and looking forward to seeing more of you around Huddersfield in the near future (see: AHRC grant success for Lesley and Alex).
