Lesley elected Chair of UCGAL

Professor Lesley Jeffries

has been elected Chair of the University Council of General and Applied Linguistics. UCGAL is a national umbrella organisation linking all the major learned societies and associations in linguistics in the UK. Its purpose is to provide a unified voice on public policy matters for linguistics within the UK higher education community.

Lesley brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as Chair of the Poetics and Linguistics Association between 2007 and 2009 and as a panel member for Unit of Assessment 29 (English Language and Literature) for the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.
