Linguistics PG Conference 2018

Call for Papers

Faye Chambers and Sara Ingham are organising the Department of Linguistics and Modern Language’s Fourth Annual Postgraduate Student Conference, which will take place on Monday 25th June 2018. It would be a good idea for Linguistics PGRs to save that date in your diary now.

Participation is compulsory for taught MA students who will be submitting their dissertation this year, and also for 2nd year PhD students, but other postgraduates are encouraged to participate. For those of you on the taught MA, presentations will be formally assessed as part of the MA program.

Presentations will consist of a short talk, around twenty minutes in length, followed by a 10 minute slot for questions from the audience. The presentation should summarise your research so far or, if your research is at an early stage, outline how you intend to proceed with your research. If you would like to present at the conference, please submit a short title and abstract for your talk of no more than 500 words, including a clear statement of your research questions, data collection methods, analytical methodology and any ethical considerations relevant to your research. Titles and abstracts should be sent by May 1st to

Faye and Sara will also need volunteers to chair sessions – more information on this will follow, but if anyone would like to register their initial interest please do get in touch!
